HRI Malta 2017: ‘The best HRI conference yet!’

The Homeopathy Research Institute’s 3rd International Research Conference, ‘Cutting Edge Research in Homeopathy’, took place in Malta in June 2017. After the success of HRI’s previous conferences in Barcelona 2013 and Rome 2015, the expectations for Malta 2017 were high. Delegates were not left disappointed, enjoying a fast-paced programme of the highest calibre research yet, in an inspiringly beautiful and historic location. The continuing commitment of the research community to generate high quality studies in this rapidly evolving field was clear. Homeopathy research of the highest calibre

As always, the HRI conference was truly international, with 200 delegates from 25 countries coming together to hear presentations by researchers from 19 countries. The high calibre of the 36 oral presentations and 37 posters was evident throughout the intensive programme, reflecting the high scientific quality of abstract submissions and a competitive selection process.

The new findings presented captured the ‘cutting edge’ theme of the conference, from the emergence of ‘pragmatic clinical trials’ as a particularly appropriate methodology for capturing the full clinical effectiveness of ‘real world’ homeopathy, to the latest bioassays being developed for basic research.

Discussions, facilitated by the pre-conference workshop and plenary panel sessions, focused on ways to ensure that future research avoids pitfalls of the past and is planned strategically to address the most burning issues facing homeopathy today.

But most importantly, it was thrilling to hear that ideas shared during the all important coffee and lunch breaks have already sparked multiple new international research collaborations, generating future projects which we hope to see presented at HRI London 2019.
